
Overview
The Advanced Open Water Course is designed for certified divers who wish to enhance their skills and experience more diverse diving environments. This program builds on the knowledge and competencies gained in the Open Water Course, introducing participants to advanced techniques and specialty diving practices. Over the duration of the course, you’ll gain hands-on experience in areas such as deep diving, underwater navigation, and various elective specialties like wreck or night diving.

The course offers a blend of theoretical instruction and practical application. You’ll engage in a series of specialized dives, each focusing on different advanced skills and techniques. With guidance from our expert instructors, you’ll learn how to handle complex diving scenarios, use advanced equipment, and navigate underwater more effectively. This practical training ensures you’re prepared for a wider range of dive conditions and challenges.


Certification and Benefits
Upon successful completion, you’ll receive an Advanced Open Water certification, which expands your diving capabilities and opens the door to more adventurous dive sites. This certification enhances your qualifications and allows you to participate in more complex dives, offering greater opportunities for exploration and discovery. With this advanced training, you’re equipped to take your diving to new depths and enjoy a richer underwater experience.
Course Details
The course consists of 5 training dives. Two are mandatory and then you can choose the other 3 for a total of 5:

Deep (Mandatory - Maximum depth 30m/100ft ).

Navigation (Mandatory - You will learn how to use a compass and natural references for navigation).

Peak Performance Buoyancy (not required but extremely useful + fun!).

Night (qualifies you to do future night dives).

Drift (good training for diving in current, many sites around the world require drift diving),

Wreck (learn about general wreck diving considerations, but does not qualify you to enter any wrecks).
The course typically takes 2 days to complete, with 2 dives (one boat trip) one day, and 3 dives (one 2-dive boat trip, plus night dive) the other day.

Course theory consists of reading one chapter for each dive (approx 10-15 pages each), and completing Knowledge Review questions for each chapter. No exams or long hours in the classroom!

Prerequisite: Certified (Junior) Open Water Diver with any recognized training agency (PADI, SSI, NAUI, CMAS, BSAC, etc.)

Reef Fees
Mandatory for all divers here in Utila, they go to fund our buoy system to prevent anchor damage on the reef.

Log Book (if needed)
We'll give you a logbook to track your dives and progress, creating a lasting record of your underwater adventures as you continue your diving journey.
